Just Say No!

I remember you. You work a full time job by day and take care of three teenagers by night. You have enough on your plate already when you are asked to pick up an extra shift at work. Your daughter needs to get to cheer at 6:30, be picked up at 10:00, and somehow your youngest needs to get to confirmation from 7-8:00. Dinner needs to get done, but so does the laundry. Your spouse works until 11. Is anyone going to vacuum?

I remember you because you were me. There are only 24 hours in a day, but 26 hours of stuff in it. I felt as if there was no one around to help. If you are like I was – what can you do?

The first thing you need to do is to stop for a minute and catch your breath. All of that running around is hard enough without having to think clearly also. Alright, breathe in – breathe out. Feel better? Okay, let's go.

The Big Secret About Improving Successfully

There is one thing that can stand in your way from achieving anything in life. One thing that can make or break a great idea. Just one thing that can make a bad idea work, and a good idea (without it) fail.

It is something that gets stronger the more you use it. It can also be hard to develop its use into a habit. Without it, even with the best set up and tools, you will eventually fail. What is this magic potion? Where can I get it?

Smart Goals Part III of III: Get Dreamy About Your Goals

Get DREAMY
We've taken a few days off and have really thought about our goals. We know what we have already and are thankful for it, and that helped us narrow down what we really want. We took our narrow focus and made some very specific outlines of goals. Are you ready to finalize them and get into action? Are you sure?

Then let's dream our way into successful goals. D.R.E.A.M.Y. is an acronym that will help you realize if your goals are sustainable or not. In other words, do you have a shot at achieving them?

Smart Goals II of III. How to get the most out of setting goals.

You've gotten some pretty good quotes from people who are very successful, and are ready to jump in head first and start making your own goals. Are you ready?

Nope.

Of course, jot down some ideas as they come to you. But you are not yet ready to start making the master plan just yet. Lets go through a few tips to get you started.

Give Thanks For What You Have
The best way to start is to look at what you have now. Be thankful for what you have and realize the work, energy and attraction that went into acquiring what you now possess. This will give you a starting point and a realization of what you really need. Listing what you have and what it means to you will put in perspective of what it is that you really want. (It is also an important part of the law of attraction)

Smart Goals Part I of III: Quotes About Goals

Preparing and deciding upon goals is highly regarded as one of the most basic steps in achieving success in life. I have selected a few quotes for you today from some highly successful people to help motivate you in your quest for self improvement. Another day we will be covering the question of “What are goals?”, but for today just take a look at some of the different ideas about them.

While perusing the quotes about goals and objectives, keep in mind these immortal words made famous by Napoleon Hill, “A POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE AND DEFINITENESS OF PURPOSE IS THE STARTING POINT TOWARD ALL WORTHWHILE ACHIEVEMENT!”

Loving Gratitude

“Gratitude is the attitude that sets the altitude for living” - James MacDonald

Building off of the positive affirmations from yesterdays post I want to bring to light something we all should do but often take for granted. Giving and showing gratitude.

I know what you're thinking, “What, am I back in kindergarten again?!” Just as in yesterdays post, the way you respond to the happy people is different than the way you respond to grouchy people. The same goes with people who really appreciate you. People want to feel appreciated, and will do almost anything to get that feeling of “worth”.

How do positive affirmations work?

Have you ever stopped to understand why all of these self help books refer to affirmations as one of the first steps toward your prosperous future? Just what is it that those affirmations do for you? What is it that makes them tick? And why should I be embarrassing myself in front of a mirror every morning to do them?

Think of the grouchiest person that you have ever known. How did people react to him? Did they clench their teeth and try to get through with their business with him as fast as possible? I am pretty sure that they did not come over to bring him flowers and offer him a nice sales position at their new store. You get back what you give. That is the way this mystical “law” of attraction works.

Now think about the nicest person that you have ever met. Did people flock to her? Did they want to be around her? Would they not do ANYTHING for her? Of course they would, because people like nice people. And what she gave out, she got in return. This is a perfect example of this law of attraction.

It is no big secret, there is no secret handshake for those to understand and profit from this law, but you do need to follow the rules.

Believe In Yourself

“It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you're not.” - unknown

Have you ever tried to learn something new? Think back to the first time that you ever saw a gymnast during the Summer Olympics. As she tumbles, spins, and does numerous tricks it is hard to see her (or him) as a beginner. How do you think she acted the first time that she ever stepped on the mat? I have a hard time believing that she thought of herself as an Olympic gymnast. That kind of thought and belief in yourself takes time and effort. It takes inner proof.

The first time this gymnast saw the balancing beam, do you think there was at least a little fear? When the bar is as far off of the ground as you are tall it can seem quite intimidating. But for her to get over her fear she had to step outside of her comfort zone and do it. What about the first time she fell off of that bar? She had to say to herself, “I can do this, I'm going to try again.” Step by step, inch by inch faith in her abilities and belief in herself took over the fear that kept her from doing it before. She learned by failure.

In the beginning

What is it that makes successful people successful? Is it just a go-go-go personality, or is it a positive mental attitude? What I would like to do on here is to invite you to discuss with me the different ideas and ideals that make people successful and find ways that we can integrate them into our lives.
