Smart Goals II of III. How to get the most out of setting goals.

You've gotten some pretty good quotes from people who are very successful, and are ready to jump in head first and start making your own goals. Are you ready?

Nope.

Of course, jot down some ideas as they come to you. But you are not yet ready to start making the master plan just yet. Lets go through a few tips to get you started.

Give Thanks For What You Have
The best way to start is to look at what you have now. Be thankful for what you have and realize the work, energy and attraction that went into acquiring what you now possess. This will give you a starting point and a realization of what you really need. Listing what you have and what it means to you will put in perspective of what it is that you really want. (It is also an important part of the law of attraction)

Look Inward and Know Your “Why”
No matter how big your plan, if you don't know why you are doing it, you risk losing the motivation to keep doing it when times get tough. Would you run into a burning building? Would you do it if the fire department was 50 miles away, and your child was inside? I know you would.

Your “why” is your springboard for finding what you desire. Realizing what aspect of life that you want better will point you to what you need to have done. Your “why” is your personal trainer. Your “why” is your inner motivation to keep on trucking when the roads get muddy.

Specify
Take what you have gathered so far and really zoom in on it. Be specific. Don't just want to make more money in the future, say “I am a millionaire by August 13th, 2020.” Don't just want to buy a house soon, say”I own a home as of May 3rd, 2012.”

Did you see what else I did there? I am stating my goals as if they happened already. In my mind I am not “wishing” for these things, I have already “done” them. This is the same thing that happens when you go to buy a new car. “Would you like your new Camry in fire red, or basic black?”

There are plenty of other aspects of goal planning that we intend to cover soon, but this will get you started for now. Don't kill yourself over details. Don't make your goals too small for now. And most of all, don't think you cannot achieve it. Write everything down, even if you have a goal to climb Mt Everest on your fingertips.
